Ian was in college ROTC in the early 90s, prior to enlisting in 1997 as a combat engineer in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. In 2000, he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and spent his time between drill sergeant and JAG units until 2003.

Ian believes in the inerrancy of scripture and that salvation is through God’s grace. He believes in treating everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of religious affiliation, just as Jesus commanded.
Education
Ian attended E.O. Smith High School in Connecticut and University of Massachusetts at Boston. He graduated from NWCU School of Law in 2022 and passed the California bar exam in 2023.
Troubled Youth
Very outspoken about his youth, Ian got in trouble with the law growing up very poor on the streets of Somerville Massachusetts, which at the time was controlled by Irish gangster Whitey Bulger and was crime ridden as a result. This led to an arrest when he was 19 years old that caused him to refocus his life and he has not been in legal trouble since. He uses this experience to call for tougher crime enforcement to prevent children from having to grow up in high crime areas.
