The following is a list of legislation and initiatives that I have proposed as a county commissioner:
2/4/2025 Accountability in Government Initiative
This rule change would have stopped the practice of tax hikes being offered for a vote by unelected bureaucrats, instead forcing commissioners to take responsibility for failing to find alternatives to tax hikes. Under the current system, commissioners do not control what they vote on, staff do. My rules would have placed accountability for the agenda on commissioners and not staff.
The video explains how this practice causes taxes to go up.
4/15/2025 Make Pahrump Parks and Shopping Centers Safe Initiative
This would have allowed the county to hire security in the form of either (1) Peace Officers that report directly to Commissioners; or (2) a contracted outside security company, to patrol parks, public areas in order to reduce homeless and other crime.
5/6/2025 Stop Homeless Crime Initiative
PASSED into law with a vote of 5-0, Pahrump Town Ordinance # 73 bans homeless camps and obstruction of public areas with personal belongings.
5/6/2025 Fixing Roads in Nye County
PASSED with a vote of 5-0, $1,000,000 from federal grant money has been spent on road repair.
6/3/2025 First Responder Retention & Appreciation Act
DID NOT PASS 2-3
This initiative gives our First Responders (Fire + Police) cash assistance. No new taxes, this will be funded from federal grants.
6/3/2025 – Help Our Animals Initiative
DID NOT PASS 2-3
This initiative builds a “dog run” for shelter dogs that are in cages with little exercise, and finishes a room that could be used as a low cost/”at cost” clinic.
